Colmar is enchanting with cobble-stone streets, pastel-colored wood-timbered buildings and medieval architecture in the Alsace region of France. In December its old town comes alive as a magical village furnished with festive decorations and a wonderful Christmas Market.

Embark on a magical journey through this fairy-tale village decorated for the holidays with Haswell Travelled's Colmar for Christmas YouTube video.

The charming Alsace region of France lies between a mountain range to the west and the Rhine River which borders Germany. Dotted with vineyards and colorful fairy-tale villages, the region had changed hands between France & Germany several times, and today is a beautiful blend of both.

It is easy to fall in love with Colmar’s cobble-stone streets lined with pastel-colored wood-timbered buildings. Many are several centuries old, and some have origins back to the Middle Ages. It is wonderful to see the old architecture preserved, allowing us to be transported back in time.

Our visit is during the first week of December, as the town is alive with festive decorations. We walk its old town streets, largely spanning between the Dominican Church and Petite Venise, and enjoy its wonderful Christmas Market. The ambiance is fabulous, with families and friends having a wonderful time during the start of the holiday season.
